MAGMA sealed UDU WUDU Tomato Records #TMT6001 vinyl LP This Paris-based group has always been held up as the ultimate progressive rock group.

Yet on this LP they sound a tad different as illustrated by synthesizers that appear throughout the album and shoter songs, most are only three to four minutes. Some feature simple, almost catchy melodies as a breath of fresh air for the band.

The songs capture the simultaneous joy and doom of all the best Magma music. This shows up well on bassist Jannick Tops Soleil D'Ork. His De Futura pioneers the "brutal prog" scene with its crushing bass and heavy, syncopated drums. Though the shorter songs may appear as concessions to the times, De Futura is an 18-minute, funky tour de force.
