The first album to bring immediate national success to this tiny  groundbreaking label, International Artists. THE 13th FLOOR ELEVATORS swept from Texas, creatively and culturally led by two early drug  aficionados, Stacy Sutherland and Tommy Hall, continually coaxing along their perplexing singer, Roky Erickson. After playing a Filmore East showcase in 1969 several labels sought to scoop up the group. As soon as this Mercury disc came out, two members left to play jazz. The other band members decided to break up.The Wizards From Kansas, became a much sought after garage band classicThe Seeds LA's first generation of garage rock featuring the garage anthem Pushin' Too Hard  and the cult classic Can't Seem to Make You Mine.Early 70s Heavy Metal forerunner Dust debuted on Kama Sutra Records. Member Kenny Aaronson would go on to The Stories. Ritchie Wise and Kenny Kenner developed as producers of Kiss. If you attended college in Philadelphia, New York, or Boston during the sixties you probably ran into The Mandrake Memorial.With the early sixties guitar work of Ted Nugent. The Amboy Dukes had a giant Top 40 hit Journey to the Center of The Mind. Here is their first Mainstream Records LP.California folk-pop-psych that sometimes expands into a bit of baroque jazz. Dave Hassinger produced Sweetwater this 1968 cult LP for Reprise Records.In 1969 Kenny Rogers brother Leland, snatched up another group of aspiring Texas garage band acid trippers. Bubble Puppy. The groups single Top 40 hit Hot Smoke and Sasafrass put them at the top of the charts with label mates 13th Floor Elevators. This 60s Canadian garage rock group The Ugly Duckling's big claim to fame was the inclusion, in a revewhite Pebbles compilation, of their Just In Case You Wonder heard on this their only LP.
