Grading:
Mint – Sealed, unplayed.
Near Mint (NM) – The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration of sound quality. The cover and sleeves are in perfect condition, no creases, bends or folds. Most likely unplayed. Basically, an LP in NM looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink-wrap.
Excellent (EX) – Record may show some signs of being played. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and or creasing. Will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.
Very Good (VG) - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Shows slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experience. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good (G) – Good does not mean Bad! The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration. You will find a better copy eventually, but more than likely the price is right on a (G) record until you find that better copy.
