Though this collection spans only about three years, it was the peak of the Tops output. Though later songs from the early to mid 70's are missing, to these ears they weren't as stunning as those collected here. I think Levi Stubbs was best on the melodramatic material presented on this collection-when he gets subtle, it isn't as effective. My personal favorites are "Bernadette," "Reach Out I'll Be There" and "Ask The Lonely." (which should have been a bigger hit than it was) "Ask The Lonely" is a masterpiece that to my ears doesn't get the credit it deserves. This is the collection that got them into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame

(b)          The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve.

 

(c)           The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

 

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP   (A SMALL PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

 

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

 

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.  (nothing significant)

 

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged  (nothing significant)

 

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine   (nothing significant)

 

-         Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease)  in one of the corners.
