These records have been passed down from my father but I picked up the RSD releases for the limited edition happy color bait that is bringing all these new album collectors out from their devices. And that’s all fine for me. It just gives me a variety and a chance to hear albums that otherwise wouldn’t be repressed. Thinking Tom Waits here. He opened his first 8 albums up for remaster for the new generation. There’s nothing like listening to an actual product and looking at the artwork while you listen and read over the band members making this amazing music and then touch on the liner notes where someone may have written a piece on the era and the album. I love shit like that. To just get a sense of mood based on the artwork and some ideas you may have read in the limited essays that are always welcome. And sound matters to me. I never got into tapes. I suffered them I should say. CDs had a characteristic that is hard to pin down. It’s quiet, but it’s restricted to a smaller digital color map of sounds. Being low rumble of drums or screeching guitar solos where the player missed a note and you can feel it. That’s what analog technology has brought me. So if you like analog and like these albums, go for it. Music is magical and transcends all languages. How cool is that? I promise I will ship these out within 3 days of receiving payment.
