NEW King Parrot - Dead Set (Vinyl, May-2015, Housecore)
Review from another site: Another great set of songs from the boys from down under. King Parrot's sophomore release, produced by Phil Anselmo (DOWN, Superjoint Ritual, Pantera, etc.) hits the mark on every track. The grindcore foundation of the band is in full effect, mixed with the slower elements I loved from the first release. The production is crisp without being over-produced and sterile. The new drummer, the stellar Todd Hansen (The Berzerker, and too many other bands to list), fits in perfectly and provides an extremely-solid foundation for the band. There is not as much overt comedy on this release, but the boys will definitely bring that element in their videos and live shows. I did, however, miss the Slatts commentary from the first album on this one. I would have liked it if he had another little snippet, as he has the best delivery going. Still, the video for "Like a Rat" sees our hero provide his trademark comedy stylings, so I will eagerly await new video releases and interviews.  BOTTOM LINE: The aggression, speed, slowness, and delivery of the first album are here in full effect. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
