This is a fine copy from a 1987 U.S. reissue of a rare 1970 LP of demos by Charles Manson and members of his "family," recorded mostly in 1968, prior to the murders for which he is of course remembered. The record is of more or less strictly historical interest (for a detailed and wry description of the music, I'll refer you to telephone_junkie's 2009 review on the Rate Your Music site). A couple of interesting footnotes: (1) Among the participants here is guitarist Bobby Beausoleil, who had previously been a member of early San Francisco group the Orkustra with future It's a Beautiful Day leader David LaFlamme, and who later recorded the soundtrack to underground filmmaker Kenneth Anger's Lucifer Rising from prison, where he was serving a life sentence for murder; (2) The side 2 song "Cease to Exist" was picked up by the Beach Boys (drummer Dennis Wilson was friendly with Manson) and recorded under a different title, and was later covered under its original title by SoCal punk band Red Cross. The jacket is close to pristine with a little creasing (M-). Visually, the disc is clean with a small cluster of scraping/dinging on side 1 that has little
to no evident effect on play. This pressing seems to have been ripped from a vinyl source, though, since despite the disc's appearance, it plays with some mostly light surface noise. Graded visually, then, EX+.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
