This auction is for a STILL SEALED, NUMBERED (2 of 2) from the MH Demo Archives, 45rpm* 9LP Test Pressing Box Set. This set consists of 9 single sided discs, for optimal sound performance, of the Classic Records 200gram reissue of "The Royal Ballet Gala Performances" with Ernest Ansermet conducting the Royal Opera House Orchestra pressed on BLACK vinyl.
These highly collectible test pressings are from the first stamper and approximately 20 - 40 exist depending on the title. Test pressings reflect the closest you can get to the lacquers and hence have a special collectible value and store of value.

This set is packaged in a white special edition box and each test pressing comes in a white jacket. Original jacket is included as a bonus. Jacket in mint condition.

*45 rpm records have long been recognized as providing a higher fidelity musical experience resulting purely from the cartridge being able to extract more of the nuance from the complex vertical and horizontal groove modulations in stereo LP’s. Further, Classic Records 45 rpm “single sided” pressings dramatically reduce the mechanical resonances created by the cartridge during playback by allowing these resonances to be more fully transmitted to and absorbed by the turntable platter. 

Demo Archives

Before the sale of Classic Records to Acoustic Sounds in 2010, Michael Hobson, founder of Classic Records had a plan to promote Clarity vinyl reissue titles that were planned to be released in deluxe boxed sets.  As Hobson was famous for, Clarity Test Pressing DEMO boxes were to be sent out to a small group of reviewers to compare to non-Clarity LP’s  they had previously received.  In many cases, only one DEMO set was assembled after being approved personally by Hobson. With the sale of Classic the Clarity Test Pressing DEMO boxes were forgotten about until this past July when the remaining parts of The Hobson LP empire was moved from its home of 16 years at 1027 N. Orange Drive in Hollywood, CA. During the move, the Clarity Test Pressing boxes were rediscovered and are now being made available.  These sets represent possibly the rarest of the rare Classic Records products that remained hidden for nearly a decade after the sale to Acoustic Sounds.  These rarities will almost surely increase in value over time and be sought after by collectors worldwide!

We use thick cardboard boxes specially designed for LPs and bubble wrap all around to ensure records are well protected during shipping.  We are not responsible for any damages that occur during shipping.

Payment must be completed within 7 days of purchase or auction win. Items will ship within 2-3 business days of receiving cleared payment.
