ANSERMET, SCHEHERAZADE, RIMSKY-KORSAKOV, BORODIN, 1961 UK DECCA SXL 2268 WBg Ed1 Rimsky-Korsakov / Borodin / L'Orchestre De La Suisse Romande / Ansermet – Scheherazade / Polovtsian Dances

Ernest Alexandre Ansermet (11 November 1883 - 20 February 1969) was a Swiss conductor. He was born in Vevey, Switzerland. Originally he was a mathematics professor, teaching at the University of Lausanne. He began conducting at the Casino in Montreux in 1912, and from 1915 to 1923 was the conductor for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Travelling in France for this, he met both Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, and consulted them on the performance of their works. During World War I, he met Igor Stravinsky, who was exiled in Switzerland, and from this meeting began the conductor's lifelong association with Russian music.

Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has the odd light mark and plays with eight or nine faint clicks very near the start of the side but still sounds excellent, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: very good (has a 4mm scratch at the very start of the side that causes clicks for just over a minute and has the very odd click therafter but nothing that really soils your enjoyment of the music, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle).
Cover (front laminated): excellent (light aging and a few light crease on back, bit of wear at top of opening edge).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler. Postal discounts available for multiple purchases - Please email for details.  _gsrx_vers_859 (GS 7.0.21 (859))
