STEELY DAN, GAUCHO, ORIG 1980 UK MCA VINYL LP, JAZZ-ROCK / POP ROCK, EXCELLENT
Steely Dan – Gaucho (12” LP)
Steely Dan are an American rock band founded in 1971 at Bard College in
Annandale-on-Hudson, New York by core members Walter Becker (guitars, bass,
backing vocals) and Donald Fagen (keyboards, lead vocals). Blending elements of
rock, jazz, Latin music, R&B, blues and sophisticated studio production with cryptic and ironic lyrics, the
band enjoyed critical and commercial success starting from the early 1970s
until breaking up in 1981. Initially the band had a core lineup, but in 1974,
Becker and Fagen retired the band from live performances altogether to become a
studio-only band, opting to record with a revolving cast of session musicians.
Rolling Stone has called them "the perfect musical antiheroes for the
Seventies".

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or
records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also
covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no
lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear
and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no
major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the
occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably
deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and
contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration,
etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and
displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents
will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise,
etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a
collection-filler.
