This has the following 1st press matrix numbers, 1st mothers and 1st stampers:

You cannot get an earlier one! This is one of the very first copies of the first pressing of Pink Floyd's first album!

Description
Disc: The vinyl has numerous marks, scuffs, hairlines etc all over both sides. The majority of these are light surface marks but there are also a few feelable scratches. Generally, this record shows plenty of signs of use, and hasn't really been looked after very well. I would say that it visually grades around Fair to Good, however, much of it plays better than it looks, especially side one. I have played the entire record from start to finish on dedicated mono equipment* and it mostly plays above its visual grade. There are some clicks, crackle and background noise, but mostly there isn't anything which overpowers the music. For side one there is nothing more to add, and so I would play-grade side one around Very Good Plus (VG+) to Excellent Minus (Ex-) which is well-above its visual grade.  Side two isn't as good as side one, with more clicks, noise and crackles. However, at the very start of 'Interstellar Overdrive' there is some bad noise which overpowers the music for a second, followed by a jump, it's then fine for about twenty seconds, when there is another jump just before the drums come in and possibly another jump about thirty seconds later, but I'm not sure about that last one. But after this (less than a minute in total) everything settles down and there are no other jumps, although it is clicky, noisy and crackly in places. Aside from the first minute, side two probably grades around Good (G) to Good Plus (G+), but because of the very start I'm play-grading side two as Fair.

Labels: No tears, stickers etc, but lots of spindle marking and some slight touching in around the spindle hole on side one.

Sleeve: The 1st press sleeve (with no 'File Under . . .' on the top flipback) is generally in a well-used, worn condition, with creases, wear, grubbiness etc. There are corner-splits at the opening corners (about an inch at the top one, but small at the bottom one) and there is a repair to a tear at the centre of the opening on the front. On the rear the opening is very worn and the back panel and flipbacks are generally stained, worn and grubby. Overall, this is a fairly shabby example that grades somewhere around Fair to Good.

*This is a mono record. Based on the assumption that anybody buying this record to play it, will have the right equipment to listen to it, I have play-graded this record on dedicated mono equipment. The play-grade and description is based on how this record sounds when played on mono equipment. Playing a mono record on stereo equipment will probably result in a lower grading.

I use the UK RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM. This grading system differs from some other grading systems, in particular the Goldmine grading system. Please make sure that you are familiar with the UK record collector grading system before you bid.

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Plus (+) or Minus (-) are added where items fall between gradings. I only ever use one plus or minus.
