The film follows Jason Voorhees who, after accidentally being ressurrected, stalks yet another group of camp counselors. This version of Jason, a now undead and more supernatural version of the character, would become the standard depiction of the masked slasher for the rest of the series. The score by Friday The 13th veteran composer, Harry Manfredini, features his biggest and most bombastic score to date in the series. Working with a full orchestra and with the budget to include updated sound design and electronic work, Manfredini takes the franchises music to new heights before his hiatus from the series, returning years later to score Parts 9 (Jason Goes To Hell) and 10 (Jason X). Founded by Kevin Bergeron (aka Kevin Dredge). Waxwork Records is a New Orleans based record label specializing in the release of classic cinema, horror, cult, and sci-fi film scores in the highest quality LP packages available. Waxwork revisits the original source master tapes for every release. Often times, these original masters are thought to have been lost, even destroyed, for decades. The master tapes are tracked down by the label, re-mixed, and re-mastered by former White Zombie guitarist Jay Yuenger. All Waxwork titles are pressed to 180 gram audiophile grade vinyl and housed in heavy old style casebound tip-on jackets. Each release features newly commissioned full package artwork and design including liner notes from the film directors and composers.
