Recorded in Japan in July 1973, this massive live album, originally on three LPs and now on two compact discs, was available outside the United States in 1974 but held back from domestic release until long into the CD age. It features the same "New Santana Band" that recorded Welcome, and combines that group's jazz and spiritual influences with performances of earlier Latin rock favorites like "Oye Como Va."

This massive live set was not released in the United States in its original vinyl form for more than 40 years. The imported (Japanese and Dutch) pressings occasionally pop up, but because their covers are so delicate and frail, they are almost always worn, tattered , frayed , dislocated or torn. We present here the most beautiful copy we have  found in recent memory. The records are nothing short of PERFECT.  Truly and literally, a piece of beauty: musically as well as condition-wise.

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

 

(b)         The album comes with the original insert / booklet / foldout poster still intact.

 

(c)         The records come in their original, custom, inner sleeves, which are UNIQUE to this album.

 

(d)         The records are apparently pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl either.

 

(e)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

 

-       Cover has a LARGE (5") tear on the back panel; despite its size, the tear is nearly invisible as there are no parts of the sleeves missing; The tear was delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape

 

-       Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

 

-       Visible shelf wear noted on the seams

 

-       Cover has all four corners slightly worn / dinged  (just a beginning of the split seam); the two split corners on the spine have been discreetly taped by the previous owner.

 

-       Cover has a small, round sticker residue (small yellowish discoloration from the removed price sticker)  (BARELY VISIBLE)

 

-       Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)
