really fine and rare, very good condition of an early First Pressing Variant A of The Beatles ‘Help!’ Long Play Record by Parlophone.

The 33 1/3 rpm album cover shows the Beatles with their arms positioned to spell out a word in flag semaphore. With the code PMC1255, it was released on the 6th August, 1965, in mono by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. It has a laminated flipback front cover, with outline “mono” on front cover. As the first pressing the record has the black label with yellow logo and silver print: The Gramophone Co. Ltd. printed at the start perimeter print, Sold in U.K. subject…, the title ‘The Beatles’ band name appears on both sides of the label in small script. The first examples (variant A) have the ‘Northern Songs, NCB’ credit on side 1, but was soon changed.

The Beatles is printed above Northern Songs NCB on side 1.

The label has the KT tax code in relief next to the central hole. The matrix numbers are Side 1: XEX 549-2; Side 2: XEX 550-2. The record inner sleeve is Tracing-paper-lined, with “Use Emitex” on it.

Help! was an album by the English rock band the Beatles and the soundtrack for their film of the same name. Produced by George Martin, it was the fifth UK album release by the band and contains fourteen songs in its original British form. Help! was nominated in the category of Album of the Year at the 1966 Grammys Awards, marking the first time that a rock band had been recognised in this category. In September 2013, after the British Phonographic Industry changed its sales award rules, and Help! was certified platinum for recorded sales since 1994. On the UK Parlophone release, the letters formed by the Beatles appears to be NUJV, as it suited the photo better than HELP.

Very Rare addition to any Beatles collection
