Miles Davis Quintet with John Coltrane & Red Garland “‘Round About Midnight” 1957 first deep groove pressing Columbia Records 6-eye label (# CL 949 mono) in a cardboard sleeve. The record grading is Very Good Plus (VG+). The overall fidelity and recording sound is excellent. The album plays with some background crackle on softer parts. Visually, it’s very clean and glossy with some superficial hairline marks that DNAP; nothing deep. The following is on the runout groove:
Side A): (stamped) XLP39109-1A
Side B): (stamped) XLP39110-1A
NOTES:
* Original mono pressing on the deep groove 6-eye label.
* Label variation:
- A1 title on the label doesn't have the leading apostrophe, but the title on the sleeve does: Round Midnight vs. 'Round Midnight.
- Album title and artist name each written on 2 lines (4 lines total) above the spindle hole and the small Columbia "eye" symbol is to the bottom-right of the circled "LP" at bottom of labels.
* Liner notes: "Dear Old Stockholm is a Swedish folk tune..."
* The back seam and the label reads: The Miles Davis Quintet
* The vinyl has a good weight to it
The outer case is also Very Good Plus (VG+). The front cover is clean & smooth with just some very small abrasions at the opening in the center. The back cover is very clean with almost no wear and just a small ink stamp at the top right-hand side. The top seam has a tight ~2” split at the opening and a few minor “cracks”. The spine is EX. The bottom seam just has a ½” “crack” in the middle. The cover is very sturdy. (all reflected in the photos) All sales final.
