ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This outstanding LP – a fine collector’s copy – from Denon (OX 7110, Japanese pressing, blue/black label, stereo) features conductor Zdenek Kosler and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra’s brilliant accounts of Janacek’s Sinfonietta and Taras Bulba, both recorded at the House of Artists, Prague, on 18/20 April 1977 and sounding breathtakingly resplendent here.
Kosler’s readings can withstand the most exalted comparisons, be it with Mackerras, Neumann, Ancerl, et al. The Czech Philharmonic has this music in their blood and bones, and Kosler’s galvanizes the orchestra to exalted heights – dazzling.
This album was produced by Dr. Milan Slavicky and Toru Yuki and engineered by Miloslav M. Kulhan and Takeaki Anazawa.
Included is a full-size, color, double-gatefold catalog showcasing other Denon classical LPs, all texts in English. If there was an additional insert with this LP containing liner notes to the music, it is missing.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is slight bumping at corners,
but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other
defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall,
this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT. Although the surfaces are not
silent (and thus I have rated it as NM vs. MINT), really the playback is quite
superb. However, if you must have NM or flawless surfaces, then please do not
buy this LP – overall, this is a fine collector’s copy.
