Grading:

NM (Near Mint): the record will be virtually flawless. In many cases it will not have been played at all. The cover will also appear as practically new. I hardly ever use NM for 10 - 40  year old records.

EX (Excellent): the record may show minor signs of having been played (ultra light marks, ultra light scuffs etc) or simply from contact with the inner sleeve. The record may have some very slight surface hiss or rustle or a few minor tics here and there, but nothing that will affect playing and certainly no serious marks or scratches and no skips or jumps. The cover may have minor shelf wear / age wear

VG+ (Very Good plus): the record may have more signs of having been used. There may be one or more surface scratches (most of those non-audible) or other visible wear. The cover may be somewhat worn and may have imperfections (for example light tear, stickers or sticker marks, writing on cover, etc).

VG ( Very Good ): in used condition but still very enjoyable
