On offer here is an early pressing of Pink Floyd's 1977 Harvest Vinyl LP 'Animals'.The Matrix on Side 1 is SHVL 815 A-4U in a uniform capital print,whereas on Side 2 it is etched on as SHVL+815+B4(but no U) in a more hand-etched way.I am not sure if this means anything,or is the norm,but that's how it is.The GATEFOLD SLEEVE is the wide-spined version,with Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd under the Harvest EMI logo on the inner-gatefold, and has a little wear to the top and bottom edges and a tiny bit at the top of the spine.Just a few small wear marks on the front and back covers and a tiny bit of whitening on the inside of the gatefold.The sleeve,though,is still solid and intact and I will grade as EXCELLENT-.The INNER-SLEEVE,with the thumb-opening slit at the top and rounded edges,and LABELS are EXCELLENT,which brings me onto the VINYL,which I will describe as best as possible.Firstly,the vinyl plays through without any skips or jumps whatsoever,but there is a lot of background crackle on the record,which is hard to understand why as it has always been played with loving care and attention over the decades.However,for this reason,I am sure it would greatly benefit from a professional clean.There is background crackle at the start of both sides,which soon settles down,but does recurr at times throughout the record.Obviously,it is most notable on quieter passages and between tracks and when the music is in full flow it is not apparent.Both sides are also a little crackly on the dead wax just before ejection,but,of course,this is after the music has finished.Anyway,for the reasons mentioned,I feel I can only grade the vinyl as VERY GOOD,although I still feel it is a enjoyable listening experience despite the flaws mentioned.Nevertheless,I have listed this album at a very low starting price in fairness,and,as I mentioned before,a good clean will improve the vinyl immensely.In summary,far from perfect vinyl with all the background crackle,but,hopefully,still a fine acquisition for someone.Payment through PayPal please.
