Description:
Last year I purchased the remaining stock from a few distros and record stores that closed down. Now I have too many boxes of 7"s. I am offering this lot of 25 EPs at a reduced price with free Media Mail shipping in the US. The bands play various forms of punk with an emphasis on emo. These records would make a great addition to your collection.

AMBER INN - Serenity In Hand 7" (1995 Ebullition Records 26) In the early '90s there was a great emotive hardcore band called Sinker. They had a song on the 3/12/93 compilation 7" that came out on Ebullition. When Sinker broke up the members formed two new bands called Amber Inn and Indian Summer. Great '90s emo hardcore. One of the bands that helped to define the genre. Passionate singing and delicate melodies combined with a strong sense of rhythmic energy. Amber Inn hits the highs and the lows with a style that uses volume diversity to great effect. Pulsating and always emotionally charged.

ANODYNE - Berkowitz 7" (2001 Alone Records AL-015) Noisy math hardcore from Boston.

THE BLUE HOUR - The Most Beautiful Words 7" (2002 Electric Human Project EHP 0.07) Debut release from Keith Vogalsong, AKA The Blue Hour. These two tracks were recorded by Keith in his bedroom, and borrow elements from Bright Eyes, Mogwai, and the likes, to produce dynamic and emotional results. The Blue Hour is a one man operation, but you will find soft vocals, spacey keyboards, reverberating guitars, drums, noise, and bass on both sides of this seven inch. 600 copies pressed, all on clear vinyl.

ECONOCHRIST - Skewed 7" (1993 Ebullition Records 15) These four songs were recorded in May of 1993. Skewed was the first of three Econochrist records to be released on Ebullition and yet it was also the last record that Econochrist would ever record.

FERAL BABIES - Unraveled 7" (2013 No Reprieve Records NR-05) Hardcore from Florida with a BORN AGAINST influence.

FERAL BABIES - Violent Boredom 7" (2011 Rigid Records FB-01) Pretty good debut EP from this Florida outfit. They play straight-up hardcore punk that has more in common with the past than the present, but doesn’t sound like anyone in particular, which is a rare thing anymore. The only comparison I can make is that the vocalist, Justin Arnold, sometimes sounds like Sam MacPheeters. But that’s it. These guys are their own entity. A little bit fast, a little bit slow. They definitely have more than one color in their pallet. The bass has a beefy sound and you can always hear it snaking around in the music. A crunching guitar is loud in the mix. The drums bring the urgency.

HALLRAKER - She 7" (1998 Phyte Records PY-009) Hardcore from Mass.

HEARTSIDE / COSTA'S CAKE HOUSE - The Heartside Is Trapped In Costa's Cake House 7" (1999 Get Up & Go!) COSTA'S CAKE HOUSE from Germany play fast and brutal German-style hardcore like MÖRSER, CAROL, ACHEBORN, or ACME. HEARTSIDE is from Italy and play intense screaming hardcore.

HELLO FEVER - Hot Communication 7" (2005 Sound Virus SND VRS 21) Hello Fever is a three piece minimal post-punk band from Los Angeles. Consisting of a female rhythm section as well as male/female vocals, Hello Fever are melodic and dark, while maintaining a direct but angular style. Their sound references such bands as Blondie and Psychedelic Furs. This single is their debut release, as well as, a precursor to their full length LP/CD coming later on Sound Virus.

ICONOCLAST 7" (1992 Ebullition Records 8) Iconoclast was the only band on Ebullition that was ever released because of a demo that was received in the mail. The Iconoclast demo sounded a lot like Rorschach. It was very impressive and it warranted a release on Ebullition. When they recorded these 4 songs their sound had developed into something much more complex and unique. Even better than their great demo. A classic early '90s hardcore record from a band that existed side by side with East Coast legends like Rorschach, Born Against, Merel and Current.

KILL THE MESSENGER - Five On Seven 7" (2000 Phyte PHY 019) San Francisco hardcore. On white wax.

LUX VANITAS - The Mysterious And Deadly 7" (1996 Paralogy PLGY-02) Ex-IMPETUS INTER. Hardcore from Albany NY

MANRAE - Pacata Hibernia 7" (1995 Ebullition Records 28) Manrae came out of England like a shooting star; blink and they were gone. They released three tracks on the Pacata Hibernia 7" and also one track on the HeartattaCk #10 compilation. The Manrae sound was very reminiscent of Bob Tilton with fantastically moody music and inspired singing. The songs have an almost sad or melancholy feel to them and yet they are alive with a very passionate energy. Emotive hardcore from the mid '90s.

NEWGENICS - Eraser 7" (2005 Hyperrealist HR009) Their second EP with two more songs taken from the same recording session as their debut EP on Level Plane Records. Two rocking punk tunes with influences from Devo to Gang of Four. Features ex-members of Guyana Punch Line and Marion, but this time with vocalist Chris Bickel delivering less venom and bile and more attitude and style. Released as a cooperative release with three other independent labels (Stereonucleosis, Shock Value and Dangerously Small. Each with a different cover, the Hyperrealist version of this 7" is limited to 300 copies.

ONCE AGAIN - As The Fire Went Out... 7" (1994 Element Records ELE001 / Outreach) Michigan hardcore.

PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES - Sad Girls Por Vida 7" (2002 Sound Virus SNDVRS 09) Three new tracks by this Seattle favorite. This record was long delayed and highly anticipated, it is also part of a three 7" collaboration which has resulted in one 7" on each of the following labels: Sound Virus, Dim Mak, and Hand Held Heart. The three covers were designed together so when you put them along side one another, they connect to make one complete cover.

SAKE - The Desert 7" (1997 Hopscotch Records #8) Hardcore punk from Eureka CA.

SAWPIT 7" (1996 Vernacular #1 / Ebullition Records #35.5) Sawpit was a band from Japan that played some truly original hardcore punk. This is equal parts Inside Out and Fugazi, pop punk and hardcore, aggression and raw emotion. The thing that makes Sawpit stand above many other bands of this style is their ability to seamlessly integrate all of these influences without it seeming contrived or confused. These four songs each stand well on their own while managing to still fit in with the rest of Sawpit’s output. This, to me, is the mark of a truly solid band.

S.B.V. 7" (2004 Parts Unknown Records PUR 010) San Diego's S.B.V. deliver the goods on their debut 7", taking the best of old Southern California bands like Uniform Choice, but leaving out the Hallmark card lyrics and poetry intros. Sick artwork by Jeff Gaither, who has worked with everyone from the Accused to Annihilation Time.

SENTIMIENTOS OPRIMIDOS / DIRTIES - split 7" (El Grito 05) Punk from Argentina on orange marble wax.

SHAHRAZAD - End Of The Line 7" (1999 Hand Held Heart HHH-02) Hardcore punk from Bakersfield, CA, under the emo influence of UNION OF URANUS.

SSION - World's Worth 7" (2005 Sound Virus SNDVRS 22) Rehashing the simple dance-punk riff of “Call out Our Lions” from old-school Ssion’s 2003 debut, Opportunity Bless My Soul, “World’s Worth” is a sleazy sex rhyme with Critcheloe drawling his voice into the role of a pansy Iggy Stooge. With a bass line this funky, it’s hard to keep your arms from flailing about, and the chorus is so awkwardly tough that it may make you want to burn down the establishment. And then go out for enemas. Tucked away after the bubble-gum-pop-meets-party-anthem “Don’t Celebrate!” is a toss-off cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” that only these twisted minds could concoct. Rather than ripping the tune straight from Nirvana, the group has opted to unlistenably but humorously cover a cover performed by Tori Amos (obsess much?). Nothing could matter less, though, because it’s almost entirely encased in a static hiss that goes from briefly recognizable chord progressions to codeine-enhanced sluggishness to hyper-speed choruses. In other words, like Critcheloe himself, it’s a bit fucked up, and totally punk.

THENCEFORWARD - Winner 7" (1995 Phyte Records 3) Atlanta hardcore similar to ICONOCLAST. Should have been on Ebulltion Records.

YOUNG TRYNAS - Probably Music 7" (2015 White Denim #26) Debut 7" from this new band out of DC released on the great White Denim label. Taylor from Priests plays guitar and vocals on this one and you might recognize their voice (since they sing on a couple of Priests tracks), but Young Trynas are a whole different beast. Murky, driving, and slightly grungy, Young Trynas are a lot more of a full-bore punk band than Priest's more spacious, delicate, yet still aggressive punk, but even with the more confrontational demeanor and more consistently loud-and-fast stylings the same level of songwriting chops are still apparent. Genre-wise, though, this one is all over the place, which is betrayed by the label's write-up, which mentions Madball, Hole, and Fang all in the same breath.... that's quite a spectrum for a single band to run, but Young Trynas pull it off with aplomb. I'm not sure fans of those bands (except maybe Hole?) would straight up be into this, but if the idea of a louder, rawer version of Priests intrigues you or if you're into the more confrontational batch of recent UK bands like Frau and Good Throb I would highly recommend checking this out. Pressing of 308.

V/A - Leave Nothing But Footprints, Take Nothing But Photographs - Chapter I 7" (2011 Time As A Color 16) First installment of the 7" series. A I FOUND MYSELF song from their demo, new & unreleased songs from BAIL and HER BREATH ON GLASS. BAIL's song is spread over both sides of the 7" and perfectly blends the record. With booklet. Numbered of 508.

Item Condition:
The records are all new and unplayed. They have been languishing in distro boxes for years and may have some edge wear (especially at the top) and minor corner bends. Price stickers (if any) are on the plastic sleeve, not the cover.
Some of these records come with download codes. Even though the codes have never been used, the website (like the band or the label) may be long gone.
