On  February 11  1963, The Beatles went into Abbey Road studios and in 16 hours recorded all the songs for this album...their very 1st.  It only cost $800 to make and the production and recording reflects it.  However, The Beatles' spirit, drive, ambition, and hunger are ALL over this record.

The copy I am offering is "officially" considered the 3rd pressing on the yellow/black Parlophone labels and was released in 1963.  It is not in Mint condition but because it is an early pressing, the audio still "pleases" and even occasionally sounds remarkable for a 51 year old artifact. As most of you know, a Near Mint graded vinyl pressing of this Mono copy can easily fetch $400 - $500. With that in mind, I believe my asking price is fair for this slightly flawed example.  A rare copy to own and play with consideration to upgrade later on.

Condition of Lp Jacket:  Very Good(-).....when looked at directly, the front cover looks almost Near Mint with only some inoffensive laminate wrinkles and minor scuffing to the edges and corners. The colors are still amazingly vivid.  The back shows more wear....the bottom flipback has been neatly replaced  and there is some writing around the songs and a name at the top.  All in all I would say an acceptable jacket with the front looking almost perfect.

Condition of Original Inner-Sleeve: VG++....the rice paper lined inner is very nicely preserved.....one small (repairable) split at the bottom and one to the side. There is a stain on one side but not really offensive.  A very nice example.

Condition of Record: VG- to VG+....in fact, the only major problem is a moment of "sticking" at the very end of the song 'Misery'.  Some of the songs actually play well above the grade of VG+.  Case in point, the song which kicks off the album, 'I Saw Her Standing There' grades Excellent.  Truly astounding.  There is background noise throughout;  but as mentioned before, the fact that this is an early pressing the Mono playback still sounds loud, clear, vibrant, and well balanced.  Visually one can see some marks and hairlines on the surface of the record but they do not contribute significantly to the playback.  The record easily weighs above 160g.
