ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This wonderful LP from Philips (6500 620, Dutch pressing, red/white label, stereo, promo copy) features the Grumiaux Trio and guest artists in sublime performances of Mozart’s String Quintets No. 3 in G minor K. 516 and No. 4 in C minor K. 406, both warmly recorded at the Musica Theatre, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in January 1973.

This is exalted chamber music making by any measure, the playing delightfully pointed and full of light and shade – superb!

The Grumiaux Trio was comprised of violinist Arthur Grumiaux, violist Arpad Gérecz, and cellist Eva Czako. They are joined here by fellow musicians Georges Janzer (2nd violin) and Max Lesuer (2nd viola).

Incidentally, the lovely cover art was executed by Helmut Schiefer. There are excellent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by the eminent Deryck Cooke, printed in German only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD-. There is bumping at corners, light creasing, and a small sticker to the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits, owners' markings, or other defects and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive in appearance – overall, a very good copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
