Description:
Last year I purchased the remaining stock from a few distros and record stores that closed down. Now I have too many boxes of LPs. I am offering this lot of 12 LPs at a reduced price with free Media Mail shipping in the US. The bands play various forms of hardcore punk. These records would make a great addition to your collection.
APEFACE LP (1997 Hopscotch #4 / Farmhouse Records #11) Apeface are, so to speak, the missing link in the extensive catalogue of NorCal/Bay Area hardcore. Before the message-board punks shat out the term "neo-crust," bands like Apeface were ornamenting their hard-line political punk with the "emotive" tendencies of more modern bands they'd probably rather not acknowledge as influences. Expect no flaccid indie rock crossover here, though: this is furious hardcore but with fairly intricate interplay between the guitars and bass (nods to Econochrist are not subtle).
THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING - Shock And Awe 12" (2005 Hyperrealist HR007) The debut full length and followup to their "Take that, world!" ep on Limbless Records. Female/male/male vocalled speedpicking all out thrash attack. 12 new songs that have been compared to Attitude Adjustment and Christ on a Crutch. The dead may or may not really hate the living, but you can rest assured that fans of extreme hardcore probably won't hate Shock and Awe. THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING unfurls a banner of neo-metalcore by way of grindcore by way of the Robotic Empire sound. This LP takes hyperactive thrash and merges it with a quirky sense of melody. If hardcore thrash can be argued to be moving into a postmodernist phase, then THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING is perhaps a solid example of that migration. Occasionally the LP gets bogged down in what might best be described as screamo (e.g. "Pale for Weariness") but it isn't too distracting and frankly they even do that sound well. Factory sealed.
INTENSITY - The Ruins Of Our Future LP (2001 Deranged Records DY18) Powerful and hard hitting thrashcore from this seasoned hardcore outfit. The lyrics are political and the music is fast and furious with plenty of style. Fifteen original tracks as well as a cover of Citizens Arrest's "In The Distance." Awesome hardcore.
KNOW SECRETS - 12" (2013 301 Collective 003) San Francisco's KNOW SECRETS features members of such prominent bay area acts as PUNCH, STATIC THOUGHT, and GREAT APES. KNOW SECRETS combines the riff stylings and heavy tones of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE with the melodic vocal delivery and DIY ethos of FUGAZI and REFUSED, resulting in 5 songs of stripped-down melodic rock/punk, with elements of indie and post-hardcore woven together seamlessly. The Self Titled 12” EP includes a 180-gram 'Bronze' Colored Vinyl, enclosed in a heavyweight uncoated jacket with a lyric sheet and a download card.
MINUTES - Narrations About The God Of Dogs 12" (2013 Good Intentions HC GIHC.001) From Mönchengladbach and Düsseldorf, Germany. Energetic and slightly chaotic hardcore with a punk hint. Reminiscent of bands on Gravity or Ebullition. Single-sided 12" with etching on the b-side. Pressing of 250.
MULTIPLE TRUTHS - No One Wins LP (2013 Halo Of Flies HALO54) Multiple Truths is a new band from Chicago, IL who formed in 2011. Multiple Truths features former and current members of Call Me Lightening, Herds, Manipulation, Condenada, Zebras, Permanent Ruin, Radar Eyes, Shopping, Canadian Rifle, La Mantra, and Hero of a Hundred Fights. Multiple Truths play a style of hardcore/punk that seamlessly melds the melodic stylings of bands like Adorno with the blackened/metallic sounds of bands like Modern Life Is War and Rise And Fall. On paper, you'd think these combinations of sounds wouldn't work, but Multiple Truths pull this sound off flawlessly. Halo Of Flies compares the band to Ballast meets From Ashes Rise meets Gorilla Biscuits, which also works as a comparison. Overall, No One Wins makes for a killer album that demands mutiple listens.
MURDER DISCO X - Ground Zero Stuttgart LP (2005 Profane Existence EXIST 087) This is what what happens if you take two grumpy old men, an expatriate Portlander, notorius for being in great bands, and a travelling Kiwi stuck in South-West Germany and lock them up in a practice room and a van. This record catches MDX shortly after their Balkan experience, delivering 12 tracks of no frills, no bullshit, adrenaline-overdosed, pissed Hardcore Punk (and we mean that!) with the occasional hook. You hate the cops, the imperialist warmachine, religious wingnuts of all fractions, earth rapers and assholes in general? Welcome to the club - this is your soundtrack to sing along to! Has the first - 1929 - "DIS" song ever written in Punk Rock history and comes with a TERVEET KADET and an ARM THE INSANE cover. MDX decided a long time ago that they are too old to die young and chose to rock the hell out of it instead - with almost 100 years of Punk Rock Experience by this bunch of old time scenesters you can expect the formula to be nailed down. For those of you that are gasping for some name dropping: features Ex- and current members of BELCHING BEET, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE, ENDROPHOBIA, CLUSTER BOMB UNIT, SUICIDE BLITZ, DETESTATION and of course current and future Ex-members of MURDER DISCO X!
THE SOUND OF FAILURE - The Party Is Over LP (2002 Ed Walters Records EW#15 / When Humans Attack! WHA-04) Moving on after the Distress Signal 7" and the split 7" with The Great Clearing Off, The Sound of Failure releases thier new full length LP, their strongest effort to date. "The Party Is Over" offers up 14 songs of noisy, abrasive hardcore. Fast, chaotic blasts give way to heavy, pounding, noisy breakdowns. Lyrically, The Sound of Failure paints bleak, desperate pictures of intensely personal paranoia and terror. Grey marbled wax.
UNITED SUPER VILLAINS - Chokeslammed Back To Life! LP (2000 Deranged Records DY05) Another fast thrashing hardcore record from Wisconsin's U.S.V.; you might remember the thrasher they did on Havoc Records. The music is fast and furious but all the weird movie sound bites add a sense of comedy to the approach, but the U.S.V. lyrical content is quite good (even a song telling people to read the god damn lyric sheets!). This is a good record, and I would say anyone that likes D.S.13 or Code 13 is going to like this as well (not that U.S.V. sounds like either of these bands, but the same people that dig those bands will dig U.S.V.). Thrash on!
WHAT IF GODS LIE - Third World LP (2006 Despotic Records 11) Ex HOG members from Mexico City playing angry political crustpunk (lyrics in both Spanish and English). Musically they are heavy, down-tuned crust with growled vocals - pretty closely capturing the classic sounds of late 80's crust/punk crossover bands like DOOM and ENT. There is also a hint of the more modern, tuneful influences of TRAGEDY and friends which, coupled with a excellent recording quality, really makes for an exciting and not enitrely predicatble release. This is their first full length, hot on the heels of their great split CD with ALL SYSTEMS FAIL.
WHITE SHIT / MEGAFUCKERS LP (2010 Limited Appeal LA 16) HARDCORE-PUNK. Contains 2 exclusive tracks each by all-star band WHITE SHIT and MGFKRS aka MEGAFUCKERS. Noncompromising and raging killer-hardcore and fucked-up noise-punk madness! Features ex- and current members of KARP, MURDER CITY DEVILS, BIG BUSINESS, MELVINS, MONORCHID, SKULL KONTROL, WRANGLER BRUTES etc.. Limited, handnumbered edition of 480.
V/A - Amnesia LP (1996 Ebullition Records #29) When this came out I was going through a mid-life crisis of sorts. I was getting closer to thirty, and while that isn't all that old in the real world it does feel pretty ancient in the U.S. hardcore scene. The fold out cover consists of writings about identity, amnesia, memory and self-realization. Much of the writing is bleak, and while I managed to pass into my thirties without losing my grasp on reality I do consider some of these writings to be the best I ever wrote. Life can be pretty ugly at times, and understanding our purpose can be very difficult in a world where identity is bought and sold in an advertising war for our dollars and souls. Our own community more often than not promotes a godless anti-spiritual concept of existence that can leave the insides cold and dead. Learning to live with the question can be a life long journey. The years in which I wrote this material were some of the hardest I ever dealt with. What am I about? We can exist in ambiguity, but it means the deepest loneliness. Compilation with THREE STUDIES FOR A CRUXIFIXION, SILENCE EQUALS, IN/HUMANITY, SCOUT, STEPHEN HERO, THUMBNAIL, CAR VS DRIVER, FAILURE FACE, WELLINGTON, IPECAC, LYBERNUM, and ORDINATION OF AARON.
Item Condition:
The records are all new and unplayed. They have been languishing in distro boxes for years and may have some edge wear (especially at the top) and minor corner bends. Price stickers (if any) are on the plastic sleeve, not the cover.
Some of these records come with download codes. Even though the codes have never been used, the website (like the band or the label) may be long gone.
