DEEP PURPLE Machine Head (Purple TPSA 7504) RARE Early UK Pressing + Insert MINT-
Here`s a RARE original, early UK pressing of Deep Purple`s genre-defining "Machine Head", released on Purple Records (March 1972).
First available on Purple Records in 1972, this is an original UK copy from May 1978. Bought from a previous owner in the early-to-mid eighties.
"Frankly, I am not offended at all by the offhand nature of those songs ("Space Truckin'", "Highway Star"). Rather than either condemn or apologize for their triteness, I will merely refer you to the current issue of Who Put the Bomp magazine, where Mark Shipper makes note of the fact that Sky Saxon wrote "Pushin' Too Hard" for the Seeds in ten minutes while waiting for his girl to get out of a supermarket — and comments that he'd rather not publish a review of any album that contains a song that took longer than ten minutes to write.
Now, I can't be that much of a purist, because I'm sure that "Highway Star" and "Space Truckin'" took at least 20 minutes each to compose, but I do know that this very banality is half the fun of rock 'n' roll. And I am confident that I will love the next five Deep Purple albums madly so long as they sound exactly like these last three." - Jann Wenner in Rolling Stone, May 1972.
GRADING: EX++ to MINT- COVER with very minor wear. Please see photos for details.
- Original UK first-pressing laminated gatefold sleeve.
- Two or three light creases to the spine (front and back).
- Comes complete with fold-out insert/lyric in MINT- condition. Perfect except for a single corner crease.
- Also includes original, custom-printed EMI Records inner sleeve, date-stamped "5/78" (May 1978).
MINT- RECORD with practically no signs of previous play. Peerless audio reproduction throughout.
- A few lightest hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- Very minor background crackle (in "Smoke On The Water" only).
- Original Purple Records labels with a single spindle line per label. The labels reference "EMI Records" as manufacturer.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "TPSA 7504 A - 1U" and "TPSA 7504 B - 1U", respectively.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded EX++ to MINT- condition: You will not find another copy of "Machine Head" as nice as this one - not at this bargain price, that is. "True value for money" is the motto here!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: SHIPPING COSTS ARE $9 TO EUROPE / $13 TO USA AND REST OF THE WORLD
eBay`s maximum shipping cost for the US is predetermined at $4. Obviously, the pricing system does not foresee foreign sellers listing in the US. However, we cannot possibly ship a record from Europe at this price. By purchasing, the buyer agrees with the mailing costs as outlined above.
