*****FIRST PRESSING COPY IN EXCELLENT PLUS CONDITION*****
First UK Pressing - Solid Blue Triangle Labels
(Released March 1973)
I
COULD TREAT YOU LIKE A FOOL WITH “MEGA RARE, IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND,
MONSTER LP, AWESOME, BEST COPY IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE!!!!"
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.
I WOULD RATHER TREAT YOU AS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS
THEIR MUSIC AND COLLECTABLE RECORDS AND APPRECIATES "DARK SIDE OF THE
MOON" FOR THE CLASSIC RECORDING IT IS!
CONDITION
Vinyl
The Matrix numbers are genuine First Pressing:
Side 1 - SHVL 804 A2 GRG
Side 2 - SHVL 804 B2 GDR (possibly GDD)
Thick heavyweight vinyl as used for the first pressings direct from the original master.
Viewed
in sunlight/daylight the vinyl still has a shiny mirror like quality.
The sound is crisp, loud and clear with no distortion,
hops, skips or jumps and would rate 9 out of 10
Side 1: Excellent +
Side 2: Excellent +
Labels
Insignificant spindle
hole wear. The labels have the rare earliest First Issue solid blue
triangle which was almost immediately changed to the common transparent
triangle of later pressings as the text was difficult to read. The
labels also have the correct “The Gramophone Company” label edge text
(later pressings had this changed to “EMI Records” text).
Side 1: Excellent +
Side 2: Excellent +
Cover
The
rare First Issue matte dark blue/black gatefold sleeve by Garrod and
Lofthouse is factory sealed at one end and still has it’s original
sheen. It is in excellent plus condition with no writing or tears and
only a minor bump in the top left corner. There is a faint 2cm crease on
front visible only when viewed at an angle to the light. Only a small
number of First Issue covers were produced with the blue/black cover as
well as being factory sealed at one end as it was almost immediately
changed to a plain black unsealed cover instead. This one has the First
Issue flipback sealed inside the gatefold. These covers are in fact even
rarer than the “Solid Blue Triangle” records themselves as the cover
colour was changed even before the first pressing run ended.

Disc Sleeve
The
sleeve is the earliest first pressing type being black, die cut,
textured, poly lined and having the Patent Numbers and “Made In Great
Britain” printed in silver on one side (later ones don’t)
No writing, stickers or tape residue.
As original Excellent +
Posters & Stickers
The
two posters are in near new condition with only the standard folding
creases as are the two unused Fasson Permanent Crackback Post Card
Stickers with diagonal brown lines on the reverse side as required. They
are matte finish not the gloss of later issues and have “permanent”
printed on the reverse and carry “wave breaks” (later ones don’t)
