The origins of Metric’s return lie in three very different places - in guitarist James Shaw’s Toronto studio, where he laid down an electric CS80 synth bedrock; but also in Nicaragua and Spain, where singer Emily Haines kindled her love for acoustic instruments.
The sessions which followed spawned an unprecedented volume of new material, split across these two distinctive musical veins.
Realising that they had in fact composed enough for two very different records, they decided to let each collection of songs stand on its own, with sixth album Pagans in Vegas representing the synth-oriented strand.
Indeed with lead single The Shade impressing and another record to follow hot on its heels, its high time to be a Metric fan!
