Sensational debut album by The Doors (EKS-74007) released in January of 1967.....soon it will be 50 years and still very few bands have come close to creating anything as bold and fresh as the songs found on this record. Like The Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper...' released several months later, it was recorded on a 4-track machine. But because of the incredible production work of Paul Rothchild and the strength of the songs themselves, nothing else was needed.......this album has "classic" written all over it.
Condition of Lp Jacket: Excellent(-) ......aside from some minor corner wear and a crease to the front cover, there is very little to fault. The spine is near-perfect showing just a bit of age discoloration. No ugly stains or tears and almost no ring wear....unusual for this jacket.
Condition of Original Inner-Sleeve: VG+......quite nicely maintained.....no creases or stains. There are 3 seam splits which can be easily repaired if desired. A high quality inner will be included to house the precious record.
Condition of Record: VG(+) ....visually the fairly heavy record looks Excellent ~ Excellent+ .....just a few hairlines and scuffs are visible. However there is a bit of surface noise in the quieter sections but not to the point where it overpowers or distracts from the wonderful audio. The amber coloured matt labels are almost flawless and among the best I've ever seen. Curiously, the Side 1 label is "deep-grooved" (see photos) which is quite rare with this U.S. pressing.
Matrix Numbers: Side 1 EKS - 74007 A-1 AP 8 - 67 * Side 2 EKS - 74007 B-1 AP 8 - 67 *
* The date of 8 - 67 is very lightly hand-etched in the dead wax to both sides.... I've tried to show this in one of the photos I've uploaded.
