Before they were prog rock gods, Rush made a splash with a Led Zeppelin-influenced self-titled album, taking to the American airwaves on the back of their bluesy blue-collar ripper "Working Man." Chronicling a live set from the tail end of that era is Rush ABC 1974: The First American Broadcast, a live album delivering a raw set from the Canadian band recorded just a few weeks after the inclusion of their new drummer, the now legendary Neil Peart, capturing the band just before it would transition to a more expansive and progressive sound with the release of 1975's Fly by Night. While this performance certainly isn't as special as any of their more "official" live albums, it's a piece of Rush history that die-hard fans will want to check out. ~ Gregory Heaney
