Nicely preserved German copy of Led Zeppelin’s 1975 release of “Physical Graffiti".
This double album is presented on the Swan Song Recording label - Catalogue number is SSK 89400. Stereo.
Please see pictures.
This is a particularly rare album.
About the album:
The Outer Sleeve:
Remains in its original factory issue top loading format, bearing only the most minimal signs of ageing - the spine and corners are all very good.
In the centre of the albums rear outer cover it reads SWAN SONG RECORDS/484 KINGS ROAD,LONDON SW 10
The Inner Sleeves:
Are the factory pressed picture sleeved covers. Both are in good clean order, no rips, tears or writing. Of note, on "sleeve one" the only means of identification is: SSK 89400-1 stemped on to the bottom right hand corner.
"Sleeve two" likewise, SSK 89 400-2.
Please see photo's.
Additionally, there is a large open out poster that shows the album tracks on each side ,the musicians and credits etc. This is in good order.
The Vinyls:
Presents on all four sides with an good, clear glossy sheene.
Side One:
A close visual examination under bright lighting conditions reveals one or two very minor/light surface marks and light but visible surface scratches most notable across tracks one to three, I have therefore played this side on two separate occasions - and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of very good quality. As with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).There are one or two quieter sections of music on this side - but in my view the listening experience is unspoilt. As stated, I have played this side twice and at no time did I detect any skipping, jumping or sticking.
On the play-off section the matrix numbers read as WEA SSK 89400 A/1
The label is in clean order.
Side Two:
Again, a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of Side 2 also reveals one or two very minor scratches/surface marks. I have played this side also on two occasions and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is again of very good quality. As I have said, with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).As with side one there are one or two quitter sections of music whereby pops and cracks are audible in the background (mostly faint in content)
Again,at no time did I detect any skipping or jumping throughout the entire playing period.(please see photo's)
On the play-off section the matrix numbers read as WEA 89400 -B- followed by PF.These are etched on as opposed to stamped on side one.
The label is in clean order.
Side Three:
Again, a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of Side 3 also reveals one or two very minor scratches/surface marks none of which are of any concern to me. I have also played this side on two occasions and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is yet again of very good quality. Again, as with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).As with sides one and two there are some quitter sections of music whereby pops and cracks are audible in the background (mostly faint in content), the listening experience in my view is unspoilt.
Again,at no time did I detect any skipping or jumping throughout the entire playing period.
On the play-off section the matrix numbers read as WEA(etched) SSK- 89400-C (stamped) then X is etched on.
The label is in clean order.
Side Four:
Again, a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of Side 4 also reveals one or two light scratches/surface marks. Additionally, there are three visible surface marks that are present across tracks three four and five, please see photos as I have tried to capture the marks. I have therefore also played this side on two occasions and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of good quality. Again, as previously stated with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack and pop consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust - particularly on quitter sections of the album and on intro's play off's, with the right cleaning cloth these can be eradicated.(please see photo's).As with sides one, two and three, there are one or two quitter sections of music whereby pops and cracks are audible in the background (mostly faint in content), the listening experience in my view is unspoilt.
Notwithstanding the marks I have mentioned I was pleased to hear no evidence of any skipping or jumping throughout the entire playing period of side four.
On the play-off section the matrix numbers read as (all stamped) WEA SSK 89400-D (could be an O but I do not think so) followed by X (etched)
The label is in clean order.
