Back Streets And Deserted Motels comprises of the Jayhawks' renditions of tunes initially composed by front man Gary Louris with and for different craftsmen, including "Come Cryin' to Me" (initially discharged on Natalie Maines' Mom in 2013); "Everybody Knows" and "Bitter End" (discharged on Dixie Chicks' Taking The Long Route in 2006); "Gonna Be a Darkness" (composed and performed by Louris and Jakob Dylan for Genuine Blood: Music From The HBO Unique Arrangement - Volume 3 out of 2011); "Need You Tonight" (initially discharged on Scott Thomas' Matson Tweed in 2015); "El Dorado" (initially discharged on Carrie Rodriguez' She Ain't Me in 2008); "Bird Never Flies" (initially discharged on Ari Hest's The Break in 2007); "Backwards Women" (composed with Wild Quills however never recorded) and "Long Time Ago" (composed with Emerson Hart of Tonic yet never recorded).
