ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This handsome 3LP box set – a superb collector's copy – from RCA (RL 30369, German pressing, RCA Red Seal labels, stereo, booklet included) features Anner Bylsma (also spelled Bijlsma) exalted traversal of Bach’s Six Suites for Solo Cello BWV 1007-1012, warmly recorded at Eching, Landshut, Bavaria, in April and May 1979.
Bijlsma's playing is marked by great clarity and poetry – a vibrancy that is quite affecting. And is very well recorded, thanks to producer Wolf Erichson and engineer Günter Appenheimer.
The exact contents are as follows:
Suite No. 1 in G Major BWV 1007
Suite No. 4 in E-flat Major BWV 1010
Suite No. 5 in C minor BWV 1011
Suite No. 3 in C Major BWV 1009
Suite No. 2 in D minor BWV 1008
Suite No. 6 in D Major BWV 1012
Included is the full-size, 4-page booklet with insightful liner notes by Lothar Hoffmann-Erbrecht, provided in German, English and French. The striking cover photo of Bylsma is credited to SEON.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the box is near-MINT. There is some mild discoloration to the top edge, but that is all. There no seam splits, corner breaks, owners' markings, or other defects, and the box remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive. Overall, this is a lovely collector's copy.
The condition of the original 4-page booklet is NM – really, there are no flaws to speak of.
The condition of the 3 LPs is near-MINT throughout and playback is superb in all 3 – they are completely free of any marks or scratches. Overall, these rate as outstanding collector's copies.
PLEASE NOTE:
All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve. The images I've provided are of the actual item you are potentially bidding on
