N- (78) NM (LP) N.O.S. Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage. This is a 78 that has virtually no wear or scuffs except a manufacturing defect. Sometimes when 78’s were manufactured there are pressing defects even though the 78 is new. These will normally be noted in our listings. These are sometimes called New Old Stock. A NM LP is basically an LP that was only played a few times and handled by someone with great care. The label and record should be near perfect. The surface should be the same. There should be no scuffs or wear whatsoever.
E+ (78) VG++ (LP). Plays like new, with very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets. This is a 78 that is still very very nice and may have a few scuffs but no wear. Again it may have some pressing imperfections. An VG++ LP is also very nice with maybe some scuffs no scratches but perhaps the very slightest of wear from being played a few times from the Era it was made and maybe some slight aging in the jacket .
E (78) VG+ (LP). This is a 78 with Still lots of gloss, with only slight visible signs of wear that you can see, and a few inaudible scuffs and scratches. This is still a nice LP with lots of gloss and some light scratches and scuffs . The jacket is still nice but can show a little more aging.
E- (78) VG (LP). This is a 78 that still has shine to it but without the lustre of a new record. It has a few light scratches and plays thru well. This is an LP with Some wear, scratches and scuffs, but no skipped or repeat grooves. You can still play this record and enjoy it. The jacket may have som small rips, tears or creases a dinged corner but nothing severe.
V+ (78) VG- LP. This is an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced. This is an average LP with scuffs and scratches on fewer than half the tracks. You can still play this LP but you will see more wear. The cover could be partially separated and in worse shape than a VG LP . No skips or repeat grooves though.
V (78) G (LP). Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
V- (78) G- (LP). Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level. LP: Lowest Grade. Audible scratches, etc. on more than half the tracks. Listening uncomfortable.
G+ (78). Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
G (78). Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
G- (78). Music still prominent, but wear and scatch damage extensive.
F (78). Most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.
P (78). Unplayable.
