This one is an original mono and non deep-grooved pressing of New Jazz (a sister label of Prestige Records) NJLP-8217 "THE CATS" by John Coltrane, Tommy Flanagan, Kenny Burrell, and Idrees Suleiman. This one is an original issue from Prestige Records, not a reissue version by OJC or Classic Records.
Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in 1957, and released in 1959, with "RVG" stamped on the dead wax of both sides. Labels address: PRESTIGE RECORDS INC., 203 SOUTH WASHINGTON AVE., BERGENFIELD, N.J. Rare.
Artists Include: John Coltrane (tenor saxophone), Idrees Sulieman (trumpet), Tommy Flanagan (piano), Kenny Burrell (guitar), Doug Watkins (bass), Louis Hayes (drums).
The vinyl played VG++ on both sides. Music is very nice.
The cover is VG. Strong, small crack on corner. Paper losses on the back cover (please see photos).
The record is play graded as well as visually. I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws.
My grading is as follows: M (perfectly like new), NM, NM-/VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, G, G-.
You will be satisfied. And I will accept a free return. Please bid with confidence.
