Johnny Cash I WALK THE LINE Sun Record under Glass #241 Memphis, TN. 78RPM - under glass with a wood frame - there are 2 small chips of paint missing on the top of the frame ( see last 2 pictures) - other wise in mint condition - I know nothing about this record only that it was found in the Estate I am guessing maybe a gift from someone? the record under the glass is 9 3/4" diameter - I Walk The Line was
actually Johnny Cash's first number one hit on the Billboard Charts. It
reached #17 on the US pop charts, remaining on the record charts for
over 43 weeks. But it was released originally by the legendary Sam
Phillips of Sun Records in 1956 on 7 and 10 inch singles. It wasn't
until Columbia cut Johnny's "I WALK THE LINE" album in 1964 that he
was certified GOLD on the album level on July 14th, 1967. Originally
recorded in the Sun Studio's in Memphis on April 2nd, 1956, Johnny
wanted it to be a nice slow country "drawl" recording but Sam Phillips
wanted to dig into that new "Rockabilly" sound that he was so
successful with that new kid - you know, "Elvis the Pelvis" kid. So
Johnny tuned it up and it sold 2 million copies long before gold
records were given out to country and rockabilly singers. I Walk The
Line was recorded over and over and over on Johnny's albums and on
re-releases even after his death.
Just one more legendary Cash smash that will live throughout music history....country or otherwise. - - in vary good condition
