John Yates ~ A No Record Deal Punk Alternative Tentacles posters / booklet **ART "This project is an attempt to throw a little light onto the shady world of the consume-or-be-consumed corporate world, the way it works, in part, and how we buy into it. For the purposes of this project we have isolated four aspects of commercialism as examples for the subject matter. They are as follows ... Ballot results ... Buy war's bonds ... Boycott ... Selling numbness and disease” --Page 5 of booklet.

This is a 30 year old vintage anti-globalist  anti-consumerism art diatribe in a limited edition of 1000. The packaing (faux record sleeve is marred but all contents are in EX- condition.

About the artist: Originally from the UK, he relocated to the U.S. to work as in-house designer for Dead Kennedys’ Alternative Tentacles Records label. He became known for graphic design work on records by the likes of Neurosis, Jawbreaker, and Nomeansno. During that decade, he was the in-house designer for Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records label, making his work ubiquitous in cool record shops throughout the world. A decade of music packaging and a bit of name recognition later, he left to pursue work as a freelance designer for a variety of other bands and labels, as well as other non-music clients. Along with apparel design for the likes of Stüssy, KR3W Denim, and Burton Snowboards, John has a slightly unhealthy obsession and love for book cover designs, as well as his ever-present music packaging work.  _gsrx_vers_856 (GS 7.0.20 (856))
