Pet Sounds ‘66 Mono Original Issue T2458 Jacksonville pressing Capitol Rainbow
Mono - the way Brian Wilson heard it and produced it
This item is considered rare and hard to find with vinyl, jacket and original sleeve in at least very good (VG) condition.
Matrix matches Jacket #6 Jacksonville Side 1 T1-2458-F25 x Side 2 T2-2458-F17 ( )
I’ve visually inspected and play graded this record noting individual aspects as conservatively and fairly as I can. I’m not a pro record seller, but a collector and am reducing my collection.
All my records have been washed, cleaned and protected in vinyl coverings and acid free rice paper. I ship them the same, in a media shipper box. If the item is more than $50, I’ll insure it if you request it.
I don’t accept returns as I consider these treasures that need to be protected from unnecessary handing. So please consider all details before you place a bid or commit to purchase. Thanks and I hope this item is for you or someone you know. Spread the love!
This item I’ve graded as basically VG average:
Vinyl VG/VG-. Gloss present. Surface noise predominately at some points, especially at vinyl entry/exits. No pops, skips or loops.
Side 1 VG with numerous lines, scuffs and scratches that are all faint, label has minimal spindle wear, spots
Side 2 VG- same as Side 1 with one scratch that can be felt in the middle with a fingernail, however it does not affect the play and sound. Label has minimal spindle wear, spots
Jacket Cover VG. Artwork is bright color, almost no ring wear. Corners mainly square with buffs. No stains, stickers, tape, or writing. Labels entirely readable on spline, front and back. Seams starting to split on entry edges, wear starting on spine, mostly at top and bottom near edges, and have been reinforced with glue, basically unnoticeable. Almost no age coloring.
Sleeve ‘66 Original Capitol Catalog Sleeve VG. Bottom corner bend, minimal on opposite end. Top 3 small tears starting, less than 1 inch. Bright color.
This is my grading scale, based on the Goldmine scale. I don’t use EX like eBay as they’re the only place that uses it in my experience. But I guess it would compare to a VG++ it seems. That doesn’t apply to this item though, as I’ve graded as VG average. Grading Scale
Sealed
Jacket cover sealed by manufacturer shrink wrap; vinyl sold ungraded. If corners are buffed I will say this. I don’t use Mint even if it’s sealed.
NM/NM-
Appears unplayed or with no prominent marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches. If cover has a few buffs or corner bend I will use NM-. I rarely use these grades.
VG++ / VG+
One or two / a few visible marks - sleeve scuffs, faint scratches etc. which don’t affect play. Jacket cover usually free of alterations and colors bright.
VG
More Marks than VG+. VG and above have NO scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. Some loss of vinyl luster. Some groove wear, spindle trails and/or surface noise. Jacket cover will have ring wear, stickers, tape, writing, seam splits, bent corners, and/or stains etc. Sleeve may exhibit some of the same defects/alterations. Most records fall into this range conservatively but amateurs may describe as VG+.
VG-
Many visible marks with scratches felt with a fingernail. May have crackles and pops surface noise but shouldn’t skip or loop. More Jacket cover and sleeve wear than above.
G
Many visible marks with scratches felt with a fingernail. G+ or G- stronger or weaker. Some vinyls in this category may play without skips or pops but usually will have more noticeable surface noise, especially at entry and exit points. Jacket cover flaws but they should not obliterate artwork. Original sleeve torn or missing. I usually don’t list G for auction/sale unless the item is considered rare or hard to find.
