LED ZEPPELIN 1ST LP 1969 TURQUOISE EDITION G/VG- COLLECTION FILLER.
If you are looking at this you will know that it is rare, it is commonly referred to as the “Holygrail” of Zeppelin collectibles.
It is thought that around 2000 of the Turquoise LP’s were produced initially, until Jimmy Page pulled the production and changed the colouring to Orange to match the orange sepia back cover.
The sleeve is in poor condition, as can be seen by the photos, there is some staining and laminate lift, and the spine is split. That said it is rare and perfect for the entry collector, until you can afford to upgrade. VG copies ranging up to NM regularly fetch between £1,500 to as much as £5,000.
The vinyl I would grade as VG-, although this is subjective. There are numerous light surface scratches that can be seen under a bright light, but having said that they do not massively affect the playback too much. During quiet periods you can hear a light crackle, but I have played this through a number of times and there are no jumps or skips, and the enjoyment of the music is not affected to a great degree. That said this is not a perfect copy, so if you are looking for a perfect copy please do not bid.
As you will see from the photos, this is a rare first pressing and the matrix numbers are intact. Later 1969 copies had a corrected matrix number, this one is uncorrected. The labels have the remains of a faint pencil name, that has been removed.
This is a good entry level copy for any collector. Please note that this is NOT a recent repress of the Turquoise edition. I am selling this due to an upgrade in my vinyl.
