Record albums: The Beatles Live From Sam Houston Colosseum August 19, 1965. This a two record set, one for the afternoon concert and one for the evening concert. The cover pictures a rare photo of The Beatles during their photo shoot for the "Butcher" album cover. The album was produced in Germany in 1974 by Adifon Records EMIR Deutchland, BVP-006.
The Beatles arrived in Houston at 2am that morning. Their chartered airplane was surrounded by teenagers after landing at Houston International Airport, with some managing to walk on the wings and knock on the windows. The Beatles stayed at the Sheraton-Lincoln hotel while in Houston. Tickets for the shows were $5 each, and The Beatles were paid $85,000 for the two performances. The other acts on the bill were, in order of appearance, Brenda Holloway and the King Curtis Band, Cannibal & The Headhunters, and Sounds Incorporated. The concerts were recorded and broadcast by local radio station KILT, which was sponsoring the event. The recordings have since been circulated widely as bootlegs. Sam Houston Coliseum was demolished in 1998.
The set was the same for both the afternoon and evenicg concerts: Twist & Shout She's a Woman I Feel Fine Dizzy Miss Lizzy Ticket to Ride Everydody's Trying to be My Baby Can't Buy Me Love Baby's in Black I Wanna Be Your Man A Hard Day's Night Help! I'm Down The two record set is in very nice condition (seldom played). Cover in good shape, bottom left corner ding.
