Supertramp Crime of The Century Lp MFQR 1-005 MFSL UHQR Complete VG/Exc. Read
This particular UHQR was released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab in June of 1981 and is now considered one of the best sounding in the series. If you are properly set up with a decent sound system and turntable your jaw will hit the floor. It is truly an unforgettable audiophile experience.
The copy I am offering is not in archival Near Mint condition. However, it is being offered for those who have not yet heard it and want to have a "taste" of what the fuss is all about. These days NM copies can fetch between $500 ~ $800 U.S.....and new/sealed copies twice that or more.
Here's why I'm letting it go at such a reasonable price:
Side 1: A scratch at the start of this side elicits ticks/pops for the first 3 min....after that the playback easily grades between VG+ ~ Ex.
Side 2: Playback grades VG+ ~ Ex. until the last 2 min. where, due to some scratches, ticks are heard until the music fades.
And that's it. So basically, 90% of this record grades VG+ to Excellent...which is a large portion of the album.
If you can deal with a few minutes of imperfection then this record is for you.
Here's how the rest of the contents grade.
UHQR Box: Good......most of these early UHQR boxes once opened do not age gracefully. This one is no exception. There are scuffs, marks, tears, repairs....have a look at the pictures.
Technical Specs Manual: NM Registration Certificate: NM Hand-Numbered/Signed UHQR Certificate of Authenticity: NM Protective Foam x 2: NM Protective (gatefold) Cardboard Inner: Ex Hand-Numbered Lp Sleeve: Ex- ....2" seam split at center bottom edge. Very common due to the heavy (200g) vinyl inside. Even brand-new copies can have this imperfection.
