Fire of Unknown Origin is the eighth studio album by the Blue Oyster Cult, released on June,1981.  The album, which included the Top 40 hit "Burnin' For You" (#1 on Billboard's Album Rock Tracks chart), was sort of a "comeback" album for the group. It was also the last album recorded by the band's original lineup. The album up for bid is a first edition and first pressing from Columbia Records' Terre Haute pressing facility. It consists of 9 tracks with a run time of 39+ minutes.
The cover is in VG condition. There is mild wear on 3 corners, but there are no split seams, tears or markings. The front cover show faint signs of disk wear at the top of the cover. the back cover is clean (see photos).
The paper inner sleeve is also in VG condition with two 2" spit seams on the thin paper sleeve.
The recording has been cleaned and tested with Audacity. There are no "skips" on all tracks, but there are several "clicks" on several tracks. There is a single "click" on Side 1, track 2 (Burnin' for You), one "click" on Side 2, track 1 (Vengeance), 1 "click" on track 3 (Joan Crawford) and 2 "clicks" on track4 (Don't Turn Your Back). These are separate on each track and not sequential in nature. The record surfaces are clean with no visable signs of scratches or scuffs to the eye or to the touch. There are no signs of moderate or excessive wear and the labels are clean and intact.
