Vinyl Condition: EX (beautiful copy!) Cover Condition: Generic (never had an official cover*) Artist: Numerous, from Jim Reeves, Billy Eckstine, Eddy Arnold, Homer and Jethro, and others! Label: RCA G8-OP-4723 Additional Attributes / Description:  Runout/deadwax: G8 OP47231-1 / G8 OP47231-1
This was an in-house recording for the RCA artists involved, and some of the executives, as well as donors to the polio cause. Only 50 copies were made. Back in the 1980's in NYC, I was an undergrad, and friends with a classmate whose grandfather was Joe Carlton, who at the time of the recording was the head A&R for RCA. He had been given it along with other records, including those on Carlton's own label. Being a burgeoning record collector, he gave me this one (and a few other cool records!).
It's a candid live recording, bawdy jokes, high-balls, some music being played from a record player appears now and then. What was especially compelling was Jaye P. Morgan remarking to Billy Eckstine about the bigoted attitudes, as friends, she mocks the Southern racists of the time! One of those very human, beautiful unscripted moments.
Eddy Arnold was the social butterfly, Homer and Jethro try at some jokes, Jim Reeves chats with Anne Flulchino & Jerry Thorpe (press, and RCA press chief respectively).
Unknown, this has never shown up. In 40 years, I've only heard of a relative of Chief Engineer Al Pulley possibly having a copy (this was back in the 90's), one super collector at WFMU knew of it's existence as an ultra-rare "in house" never released recording, other then my old college buddy who was generous enough to give me this (and other records!) back in the day, this it. I think on an obscure message board online, someone mentioned it's existence (to the best of my knowledge)
I am 99.4% certain this will be the first and only copy to show up, unless someone related goes to their attic or basement years from now!
P.S.
Although at photo glance it looks like a 78, it is vinyl and 33 1/3 rpm!
