This LP, the second of three volumes, continues the documentation of 's Royal Roost broadcasts, performances that allowed his quintet (with trumpeter , pianist , bassist , and usually drummer ) to stretch out on such songs as "Scrapple From the Apple," "Hot House," "Barbados," "Groovin' High," and "Oop Bop Sh'bam." The immortal altoist is heard at his peak throughout and is in consistently brilliant form, giving one a good idea as to what his live performances from the era must have been like.
