Lucky Thompson, "Paris 1956" (Musidisc) Import LP, French pressing of 2 fine Spring 1956 sessions recorded in Paris. The elusive tenor master Lucky Thompson is backed by drummer Gerard "Dave" Pochonet's All-Stars, and both sessions feature legendary French pianists. The April date has the wonderful Martial Solal, still known throughout the jazz world for his brilliance. And the May recordings feature Henri Renaud on piano. The classic cover is Mint-minus, all seams intact. I only give a Mint grade to sealed items, but it's virgin. The vinyl is Mint-minus, as well -- once again, I only give a Mint grade to sealed items, but it's pristine, squeaky clean. Sight graded. Strict grading. And the music? Timeless and swinging!
