This is an EXCELLENT copy of this scarce BLUE NOTE album, LOU DONALDSON:"BLUES WALK", featuring LOU DONALDSON, Alto Sax, HERMAN FOSTER, Piano, PECK MORRISON, Bass, DAVE BAILEY, Drums, and RAY BARRETTO, Congas. This is quintessential 50s BLUE NOTE JAZZ at its best. Regarding BLUE NOTE RECORDS: As we all know, the performances are legendary, and the Blue Note sound is simply stunning.
This LP was probably released in the mid 1950s, and it is the FIRST PRESSING. It features the well known Blue and White label, DOUBLE SIDED DEEP GROOVE. It features the 47 W. 63rd address on both sides. It has the matrix # BNLP 1593 A and B hand etched in the run out groove, as well as the Van Gelder stamp. It has the famous Plastylite symbol (the "Ear") on both sides. This LP is really beautiful, and Im conservatively rating it VG+. There are a few light, non-feelable marks, thats it. The Laminated Jacket is also in VG++ condition. The spine, and both top and bottom seams are solid. This is one of the cleanest jackets Ive seen in a while. I purchased this LP many years ago when I was in New Orleans, and the stamp of the original store is on the back cover. So is the sticker showing the original price I paid (see pic). Ahh, those were the days...The classic Francis Wolff photo, and the graphics, are sharp and clear. The labels are clean, with a few faint spindle marks. The LP itself is the heavy thick vinyl associated with these early to mid 50s pressings, and the BLUE NOTE sound is amazing, engineered by the incomparable Rudy Van Gelder. The LP plays and sounds great!
I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.
All LPs will be carefully packed in proper LP boxes, well protected, and sent USPS Media Rate, unless specifically needed sooner. We can send priority mail if desired. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice. LPs can also be sent Fed-Ex ground, if preferred, although this can be a bit more expensive. Good Luck!
