This is an EXCELLENT copy of this scarce BLUE NOTE album, "PROFILE", DUKE PEARSON, featuring DUKE PEARSON, Piano, GENE TAYLOR,Bass, and LEX HUMPHRIES, Drums. This LP probably dates from the late 1950s, and is DUKE PEARSON'S FIRST LP! This is quintessential Blue Note Post Bop at its best. Duke Pearson went on to become a well known Jazz Pianist, Composer, and Arranger. This is his first outing as a leader, and thus, this is an historically important LP. Regarding BLUE NOTE RECORDS: As we all know, the performances are legendary, and the Blue Note sound is simply stunning.
This LP was probably released in the late 1950s, (maybe early 60s?) and this is probably not the first pressing, maybe a second pressing. It features the well known Blue and White label, non deep groove. (Ive never come across a deep groove copy in 30+ years of collecting). It features the 47 W. 63rd address on both sides. It has the matrix # BNLP 4022 A and B hand etched in the run out groove, as well as the Van Gelder stamp. The jacket address is : 43 West 61st street, New York 23. This LP is really beautiful, and Im conservatively rating it VG++/Excellent. There are a few light, non-feelable marks...thats it, otherwise, this LP would be graded mint. The Laminated Jacket is in VG+ condition, with solid spine and seams intact. There is high gloss clear tape along the top seam only, which matches the high gloss of the glossy laminate, so it is barely noticeable. there is the usual light soiling and shelf wear, mostly on the back cover, common for a 60 year old LP. The classic Francis Wolff photo, and the graphics, are sharp and clear. The labels are clean, with a few faint spindle marks. This Lp looks virtually unplayed. The LP itself is medium thick vinyl associated with these pressings, and the BLUE NOTE sound is amazing, engineered by the incomparable Rudy Van Gelder!
I am a Jazz Pianist and Recording Artist, and have been collecting Rare Jazz LPs for many years. This is one from my personal collection. I assure you, all the LPs I will be offering here have been meticulously taken care of, and only played rarely, on a Sota Sapphire Turntable, with a Grado Reference Cartridge. They have been kept inside a temperature controlled room in my home, in plastic dust jackets. In other words, you can bid in confidence, knowing these LPs come from someone who has loved them and babied them. I reluctantly am beginning to sell some of my LPs, and hope they go to someone who will love them as I have.
All LPs will be carefully packed in proper LP boxes, well protected, and sent USPS Media Rate, unless specifically needed sooner. We can send priority mail if desired. Shipping costs are always based on your location. I do not add "handling"fees, costs will be exactly as I am charged by the shipper of choice. LPs can also be sent Fed-Ex ground, if preferred, although this can be a bit more expensive. Good Luck!
