THE PRETTY things had of course made their mark in the sixties as a poor man's Rolling Stones for whom they would always play second fiddle. Despite the fact they pretty much recorded the first ever concept album (beating the Who by several months) and had been hailed as freak-beat pioneers the band's following would never expand  beyond a 'selective' few.

By the seventies they had changed style commencing with the albums 'Parachute' and 'Freeway Madness' before being rescued from the scrap heap by fans and business angels Led Zeppelin who signed them  in 1974 directly to their recently enaugerated Swan Song label. It was the perfect home for the band who let their creative juices flow producing  a couple of the best mid seventies rock albums of all time.

'Savage Eye' is the second of the two albums and its a beautifully crafted work full of rich surprises and great songs. Forget the bands sixties r 'n b style - this record showcases major seventies rock influences all the way from the Who to Zeppelin and all points in between. There are some beautful tracks here incluidng the hard rock of 'Under The Volcano' and 'Remember That Boy', the punchy 'I'm Keeping' (like Zep's 'D Ya Maker') and the stunning ballads 'Sad Eye' and 'It Isn't Rock N' Roll'. Truly a fabulous record.

Ok, so it ain't rare but it is essential. One of the best and now long forgotten classics of British rock. You will not regret buying this one I can assure you - a perfect copy!
