NUMBER 404 OF 1384 COPIES SIGNED BY FRED ASTAIRE
INCLUDES SIX PLATE SIGNED LITHOGRAPHS BY DAVID STONE MARTIN
INCLUDES ONE FOLD OUT COLOR LITHOGRAPH HAND SIGNED BY DAVID STONE MARTIN
INCLUDES ORIGINAL BOOK WITH ALL PHOTOS
INCLUDES FOUR BLUE VIRGIN VINYL RECORDS
CONDITION:
1- Outer red covers have separated from the comb book as shown in last two photos. Photo 11 has the comb book turned 90 degrees to make it more clear. Fading and corner wear to outer red cloth covers.
2- Records 1,2 and 4 have minimal markings on the vinyl. Record 3 was played a bit more and has scuffs. Noted audible scratch on Night and Day and on Concentrate on You (record 3). Far from terrible but the pop repeats for a number of turns on Concentrate on You and a light scuff sound repeats for a number of turns on Night and Day.
3- Records need cleaning. They are deep grooved which means that it is easier to collect dirt and easier to clean. The first song on each side has occasional ticks and pops (not loud pops) that could probably be mostly cleaned. The vinyl on most of the inner songs is as quiet as the quietest of MFSL albums.
4- See photo #2. The red marks on this page are pretty much the extent of damage to the book pages. There is page toning throughout.
5- Photos 7, 8 and 9 are the signed in plate David Stone Martin lithographs, missing from almost all sets as people do better selling them separately. One has a corner crease (photo 9, lower right). All have edge paper toning. They are printed on rough paper and each piece has at least one hand torn rough edge and some have creases that were part of the original paper as the printing was done over the creases. There is edge wear and edge waviness to these six prints with the print with the symbol having a half inch tear at bottom. Just for the record, the copy of this set that just sold at $291 was missing these prints.
5- See photos #4 and #5 for hand signed color lithograph by David Stone Martin. Note please that there is toning to the edges of this print and the bottom edge has some waviness.
I had to consider whether or not to sell this as the package it should be. I kept it together because the Martin lithographs are all based on this recording session with the photos of the book showing Astaire in the clothing represented in the lithographs.
It has to stay together. In exchange, I made it a ten day auction. There is also a reserve. I hate reserves and this one is $250. I can't let it go for less than what I could sell the signed color lithograph for by itself.
Insurance included in shipping.
