Arriving in strictly limited quantities and covered in suitably cryptic artwork from Andy Votel, Modern Love present the final instalment in Demdike Stare's trilogy of albums for 2010. "Voices Of Dust" begins in menacing fashion with the atonal drone vacuum of "Black Sun" and the Lancastrian techno experimentalists retain this air of underlying peril throughout, as anyone who's indulged in their previous output would expect. Metallic bass frequencies underpin the phased mindfuck discotheque of "Hashshashin Chant" whilst "Repository Of Light" delivers an interlude from the album's overwhelming claustrophobia via some gloriously shimmering Detroit style futurist synth work. Your senses are sucked right back into the viscous machine created mist as "Rain & Shame" unfolds and seeps into the rhythmically off kilter fuzzed bass textures of "Desert Ascetic". The final plunge towards the darkness of finality that begins with the surrealist mist of distant horns on "Leptonic Master" and reaches the run out groove with the coarse sonic grains of "A Tale Of Sand" ultimately leaves you with the thrilling sensation of craving more.
