This remastered edition features the original 4 page insert that came with the album and is pressed on 180g WHITE vinyl with a heavyweight sleeve.
Originally released in 1988, ‘First Of A Million Kisses’ launched the career of Fairground Attractions lead vocalist Eddi Reader.
Eddi went on to receive a MBE in 2006 for her outstanding contri- bution to the arts which included her album of Robert Burns material
with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
The album and the No1 single ‘Perfect’ both won best album and single respectively at the 1989 Brit Awards. A refreshing blend of folk, jazz, country and even a bit of cajun, the album was a runaway success, eventually being certified platinum.
The album featured four singles; ‘Perfect’, ‘Find My Love’, ‘A Smile In A Whisper’ and ‘Clare’.
In 1989 the band went back into the studio to record the much an- ticipated follow up, but it never materialised.
Halfway through the recording tensions within the band reached break- ing point and in January 1990 the band split up and the album was never finished.
An album ‘Ay Fond Kiss’ was released in 1990, was made up of their last single a cover of Patsy Cline’s 1957 hit ‘Walkin After Midnight’ and b-side and other material recorded along side the first album.
