Peoples Temple, who hail from Lansing, Michigan, may be named after the religious cult spearheaded by Jim Jones, yet their own sound is thankfully rather more benign, centring on a sun-kissed yet rough-hewn kind of melodious garage-rock attack. This fourth album proper, in a prolific career thus far, nods to the likes of Pixies and The Replacements, as well as the wayward Texan trash-trawl of Red Krayola, whilst maintaining a freshness of delivery and sparky intensity that elevates them beyond the lure of retro-slavery to the realm of a woozy, timeless and effortlessly appealing kind of youthful bravura.
