Having commissioned Baris K to utilise his knowledge of 70s Turkish music for a series of edit 12"s, New York label Nublu enlist the Anatolian funk expert to further document the country's rich musical period for this double LP compilation of original material. Whilst the cover art sadly doesn't match the luxurious standards of those twelve inches, the music here more than makes up for it. Baris K presents a fourteen track saunter through the rock, Arabesque disco and psyche funk that bubbled to the surface in Istanbul during the 1970s. Furthermore, it's backed with an extensive overview of the period from historian Murat Meric which provides some excellent cultural context for the music.
